Children's Outpatient Counseling

Services are provided to children with emotional disturbances and related problems (e.g. Family/school etc.) requiring therapeutic intervention. Counseling services are provided in a focused, time-effective manner. In general, counseling services are designed to relieve symptoms and improve behavior, interpersonal or other skills needed for effective functioning in the home, peer and school environments. Service includes help to caregivers and families that build stability and parenting skill. Goals include establishing appropriate roles, healthy communication, preventing disruptions in placement, and strengthening the parent-child bond.

The program includes on-site and in-clinic outpatient service components. Each component represents a different level of clinical intensity. Thus, some children are seen in their family home or school environment, and some are seen in the clinic. Often, services such as intervention programs, psychiatric consultation and linking to an array of community resources are sought in order to meet treatment goals.
