CARE Program – Coping with Addiction through Recovery & Empowerment

Coping with Addiction through Empowerment - This intensive 5 days/week, 6 month outpatient program provides psychosocial rehabilitation services that are strength-based to women with primary substance use disorders and some co-occurring mental illness problems. The goal of these services is to teach women skills that will allow independence and the ability to achieve their highest level of functioning without entering inpatient treatment. Services are provided through education group, life management and other skill building groups as well as treatment through family, group, and individual therapy and other ancillary services. Women who can benefit from this program usually lack a supportive living environ­ment, have difficulty remaining clean and sober and require an intensely structured, supportive environment which includes highly professional and empathetic counseling and support. Services and intensity are individualized according to diagnosis, functioning level and/or disability, acuity, severity, medical safety, motivation, and availability of recovery supports. The CARE Program addresses the special needs and interests of women who are struggling with an addiction and who may also experience a mental illness. Special accommodations are made for children while the participants are in therapy.
